Health Links (HL): Why is the health and wellness of your employees important to you?
Tidewell Hospice (TH): Tidewellness is a program focused on building a culture of wellness among Tidewell colleagues. Through a combination of education and creative activities, Tidewellness promotes healthy living to reduce the risk of disease, enhance quality of life, and encourage self-awareness for wellness of mind, body and spirit. Tidewellness consistently inspires colleagues to make healthy choices and affirms lives that are well-balanced between work and leisure.
(HL): How will you/do you know your program is successful?
(TH): We are able to track participation levels as well as reward eligibility to help us identify the program impact.
(HL): What obstacles did you have to overcome to get your program started? How did you overcome them?
(TH): Our program was well-received and supported by leadership. As we enhance our program, with tools and education to support it, we have observed increased interest from our colleagues.
(HL): Do you incorporate safety along with your wellness program? If so, what does this look like?
(TH): Safety is managed separately from wellness.
(HL): What tip/advice would you give to a business that is considering starting a workplace wellness program?
(TH): It is important to have leadership's support and to encourage wellness within the culture as well as have a defined program that includes incentives to encourage colleagues to understand that benefits of the wellness program.
